2012 Scholarship Applications Are Now Available!
The National JACL offers more than 30 awards, with an annual total of over $70,000 in scholarships. Awards are available in the following categories: Freshman, Undergraduate, Graduate, Law, Creative & Performing Arts, and Financial Aid. The 2012 National JACL Scholarship Program informational brochure and applications are posted on the JACL website (www.jacl.org). They can be accessed by clicking on “Youth” on the menu bar.
Freshman applications are to be submitted by March 1, 2012 to the applicant’s local JACL Chapter. Chapters shall then review the applications for local JACL Chapter awards and forward the “outstanding” ones to the National JACL Freshman Scholarship Committee. Last year, the San Diego JACL awarded several Freshman Scholarships of $1,000 or greater. In addition, the San Diego JACL has one Continuing Education Scholarship for a student enrolled in college, which requires the applicant submit a separate General Application directly to the SD JACL by the local deadline of March 1, 2012.
